A poor wood-cutter with his wife and two children lived in a great forest. The boy was called Hansel and the girl Grethel. One day, He and his wife decided to take their children out into the forest to where it is the thickest and leave them alone. Their children had heard what they would try to do. One day, they were taken to the forest by their mother. Hensel was so clever that he threw a piece of bread as a sign on the road. However, they lost the sign because many thousand of birds had picked them all up, so they couldn’t go back home.
Then, they found a little house that was built of bread and covered with cakes, and they started to eat. Suddenly, a very old woman appeared, and they thought they would be scolded because they had eaten her house. But she didn’t do that. She invited them into her house, and gave them some food. But she had only pretended to be so kind, she was witch in reality. She planned to eat them! How do you think they go back home alive?
